Smoketree Developmental Preschool | Pre-K
"My students inspire me because they are all different and bring so many different things to the classroom. I have typical developing as well as special education children. Seeing the way they interact and communicate with each other is amazing. My students are beautiful, thoughtful, loving and caring. My students are my world."
I MOVED TO LAKE HAVASU BECAUSE
When I graduated from college was a really bad year for the area I grew up in. We had over 1,500 teachers applying for the same job. Teaching jobs were impossible to land. I applied for the Lake Havasu Developmental Preschool and was hired. This is a beautiful area and amazing area for children to grow up in.
PERSONAL INTERESTS AND/OR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
I teach early childhood classes at MCC, I like to walk in fund raising walks (cancer, suicide), I was named champion of Children by FTF, I organized two pajama drives for children in our area and I am trying to get the word out about the importance of early childhood education.
I WAS INSPIRED TO BE A TEACHER BECAUSE
I just wanted to change the life of one child. I have no doubt that I have changed the lives of many of my students and that is all the inspiration I need.
Dream classroom item: 3 Amazon Echo's
I teach special needs students as well as typical developing students. Because of the age of my students (3-5) they require immediate gratification. When I want to play a song for any transition, I have to turn my smart board on, wait for it to warm up and then find the song I want to play. By the time I find a song my kids are lost. Using Alexa (Echo), I would have instant songs and instant gratification. When my children hear a song, they know exactly what to do (clean up, line up, etc). I do have a CD player, but my CDs are scratched and skip in the middle of songs.
I am asking for three because we have three classrooms and I thought the other teachers could benefit as well. Incorporating technology in the classroom is very important. This would incorporate technology without the screen time. The kids would also be able to ask Alexa questions and receive immediate answers.
