"My students inspire me through their interest and need for learning and education. I wish everyone viewed learning through the same eyes as third graders do!"

I MOVED TO LAKE HAVASU BECAUSE

I moved here, with my parents, in eighth grade. I've stayed because I enjoy the people I've worked with here and love the school I'm at!

YEARS TEACHING!

This is my first year teaching!

PERSONAL INTERESTS AND/OR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

I enjoy outdoor activities with my loved ones and pets. I have 2 horses and 2 dogs that I take pleasure in camping with!

I WAS INSPIRED TO BE A TEACHER BECAUSE

I've always enjoyed teaching and think kids are simply awesome! I really caught the "teaching bug" when I was in high school. This sparked from taking the early childhood class, at Lake Havasu High School, and enjoying participating in the Little Knights Preschool program. This class, and Mrs. Hendry, opened the door to earning a CDA and I became more interested in teaching as a profession. The best part about teaching is seeing the "ah-ha" moments in students and knowing that you got them there!

Dream classroom item: Flexible seating

Flexible seating encourages students to be responsible for their learning by choosing a seat/spot in the room where they can learn best. I believe it's important for my students to have choice and responsibility. Studies on flexible seating have shown that when students are allowed to sit where they are most comfortable learning, they will be more willing to learn, and therefore retain more. Having flexible seating is also beneficial for those students who have attention deficit disorders because they have the freedom to bounce or rock, while they're participating in class, rather than having to stand or pace in the back of the room.
