NAUTILUS | Kindergarten
from: ontario, CAlifornia

"My students inspire me to always continue growing. If I expect them to make growth I must always be reflecting my practices so I can grow right along with them."

I'M ORIGINALLY FROM

I am originally from Ontario, California

I MOVED TO LAKE HAVASU BECAUSE

The beautiful lake, small population, and welcoming community attracted me to Lake Havasu City.

YEARS TEACHING!

I have been teaching for 9 months!

PERSONAL INTERESTS AND/OR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Back home I was involved in the Ontario Police Explorers. I was also a seasonal manager for a San Bernardino Aquatics Center. The aquatic center was more than a job, it was my life outside of school and volunteering. At the park I would volunteer time outside of work hours to educate the community about the resources that are offered for their family to spend time together. Since moving to Lake Havasu City in July of 2016 I have spent time getting to know the local hiking trails, learning to ride a jet ski, and starting a small business.

I WAS INSPIRED TO BE A TEACHER BECAUSE

I have always wanted to help people. When I began working at the aquatic center I watched interactions the staff and children of summer camps shared. Seeing those interactions led me to asking questions! I did a little research, and applied to the Child and Adolescent Development program at Cal State Fullerton. Clubs such as Child and Adolescent Studies Student Association (CASSA) and my major gave me the opportunity to volunteer in schools throughout the Inland Empire. The time spent volunteering has led me to where I am today.

Dream classroom item:

Fortunately I was blessed with a lot of book donations, but we have no where to put them! Our ultimate dream item would be designated theme bins for our library. This would help students access books easily and make our library user friendly!

To make this dream come true we will need 20 bins.
