I MOVED TO LAKE HAVASU BECAUSE

I met a boy, fell in love, got a job with the school district and the rest is history.

YEARS TEACHING!

Since January of 1991.

PERSONAL INTERESTS AND/OR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

I love spending time with my family and my church family. I enjoy reading when I am able to find spare time. I love to help people when I can; and that's why I am a lead person for Relay For Life (the largest fundraiser the American Cancer Society sponsors across the world).

I WAS INSPIRED TO BE A TEACHER BECAUSE

I have actually always wanted to be a teacher. I remember in 2nd grade telling my daddy that I was one day going to be a teacher. He taught me to set goals and to dream. He encouraged me all the time. Then, during high school I fell in love with the biological sciences and took as many classes as I could in the area. As I graduated High School I was at the top of my class with scholarships to college. I quickly started scheduling classes in the sciences and getting my requirements out of the way as an undergrad. I suddenly found myself in need of one more class during my second semester...and all the classes I really wanted filled up fast. So, I had to just pick something. I chose a class in special education and fell in love and knew I wanted to make a difference in the world. As soon as I graduated college I went home to see my family, called LHUSD to inquire about job openings, and 2 weeks later I was a teacher in my first special education classroom.

While times have changed, and my life has changed, my love for the biological sciences never did. Six years ago I found myself in dire want of teaching at the high school level. And here I am today teaching Allied Health Biology and loving it.

Dream classroom item: Wireless printer

I would love a wireless color printer. I have computers that are used so often in my classroom with no capacity to print anything. I don't even have a printer for my teacher computer. I'm not complaining in any way. We problem solve our printing needs. But it would be really cool to have a printer.
