"My students inspire me by teaching me new things and just being themselves."
i am originally from
I was born and raised in Long Beach, California. However, I lived in St. George, Utah over the last 16 years before moving to warm and sunny Lake Havasu.
I MOVED TO LAKE HAVASU BECAUSE
Family. My cousin has lived here since 1991 and my parents moved here four years ago. I also have two of my three aunts living here. The location is also closer to my family in California.
I have been working with children most of my life in some capacity. However, due to life getting in the way over the last 20 years, I was unable to continue my education. I was finally able to finish my degree over the last couple of years and graduated in May. I am happy to say this is my first official year in the teaching profession.
PERSONAL INTERESTS AND/OR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
I was heavily involved with the Girl scouts for over 10 years while living in Utah which gave me the opportunity to get involved in community events and fundraisers. I love dogs, reading, movies, anything 80's related and spending time with my daughter.
I WAS INSPIRED TO BE A TEACHER BECAUSE
In one word...grandma. My grandmother was my best friend growing up. She always encouraged me to read and write and during summers she would force writing assignments on me and my siblings (which I loved). She was kind to everyone she met and is someone I admired greatly. Even though she has passed, she is still my biggest inspiration.
dream classroom item: A classroom set of Chrome Books (35)
So that all my students can have access to technology to research and write papers and to do other classroom assignments.
